About Us.

Who We Are

Afyakili is a combination of a Swahili terms “Afya” and “Akili” in English meaning, “Health” and “Mind.”

Afyakili

Afyakili is a youth led platform that uses Art and Colors to promote Mental Wellness. We use creative processes of making Art to connect with our emotions, what we have elaborated as,  “How are You Feeling Today?” Our aim is to help in breaking Mental Health stigma, by breaking down content on Mental Health to simple, consumable and transformative content, to every individual from any generational era. We believe that good Mental Health can be a lifestyle and collective teamwork with synergy, will build a foundation to help in managing depression, preventing suicide and ending stigma on Mental Health.

How we Work

We use T-shirts, footballs, hoodies and bags as conversation starters for Mental Health conversations among individuals, anywhere anytime. Every item has a wellness card that has guidelines to assist the reader and anyone who may encounter the individual having these items. They have the words, “How are You Feeling Today?” and the wellness cards act as a simple, brief and quick help for Mental Health challenges, that can assist in linking and connecting an individual with a professional Mental Health service provider. The goal is to inspire hope, instill skills for wellness among individuals, guide people on how to help others, therefore minimizing the stigma on Mental Health and sharing love with others, in a creative way.
